Founded in 2009, Sankofa Support Services Inc. is committed to alleviating the causes of family poverty. Education, health, housing, and neighborhood development programs are just some of the ways in which Sankofa Support Services Inc. will provides for the community. Sankofa Support Services Inc. encourages the empowerment of people to promote leadership and developmental skills to people. Our programs and services are designed to best address children physical, social, medical, educational, and recreational needs without regards to economic status, race, creed, gender, or type of disability.

Diapers are an essential item for all mothers in financial need. Our Diaper Program offers a free diaper distribution program. As funds increase, Sankofa Support Services Inc.'s goals is to provide an ongoing diapers program. Diapers are a basic need for children, as essential to their health and well-being as food and shelter. Yet nearly 1 in 3 families in America struggle to afford diapers for their children. Families unable to afford diapers are forced to choose between a range of undesirable alternatives that can severely impact the health and well-being of both their child and their household. Many families report cutting back on basics such as food, utilities or child care in order to purchase diapers for their children. Other families report leaving their children in soiled diapers for a longer period of time than they otherwise would have. Some families even resort to cleaning out or drying soiled diapers and reusing them in order to meet their diaper needs.

Our teen programs meet young mothers and fathers where they are, providing care, tools and support to help them overcome the statistics and build a successful life for themselves and their babies. We also focus on their strengths and use innovative tools to empower – including mentoring, employability and mental health services.

Our mission and approach are simple: We believe in the worth of every human being, and we know from experience that when people have the right tools, change can happen. Sankofa Support Services Inc. has provided meals to the homeless by teaming up with homeless shelters in the Lowell, MA area.
