Welcome to Sankofa Support Services Incorporated! The word "Sankofa" is from the Akan language of Ghana, West Africa. It translates into English as "reach back and get it". The word portrays the symbol of a bird with its head turned backwards, taking an egg off its back. It also means: "it is not wrong to go back for that which you have forgotten".

When we talk in terms of "Sankofa" at Sankofa Support Services Inc., we do so recognizing that in this present age many people have forgotten what our ancestors taught us: to love, care, help or lend a hand, and, above all, to be there for one another. During our generation, we at Sankofa Support Services came together under the spirit of Sankofa, in order to help the youth and the single mothers who are the very root of our future.

When single mothers, who are a result of broken families, are suffering we feel the need to reach to them and give them hope. We do that both by educating them way to take care of their kid(s) or by providing basic necessities. Among such basic items are: diapers, foodstuff, hygiene materials, and sometimes clothing.

Our prayer is to join hands with well-wishers who, inspired by the spirit of Sankofa, will work with us to keep helping the people in our community lift themselves out of poverty. We touch one life at a time and we build families with your donations. We believe the future of Sankofa Support Services is bright through the guidance of Sankofa we will change lives.
